Both Sheila and I worked for Great Aycliffe Town Council at the Sports Complex for a number of years and this is the first time we have been on one of the Town Council organised trips.

First we stopped at Boundary Mills, greeted by staff and given a free voucher courtesy of the Town Council for tea or coffee and biscuits.

Then whisked off to Doxford Hall Hotel, once again greeted by staff for a 3 course meal, the tables were all dressed in beautiful white table cloths and set to perfection, the meal was beautiful, we were totally spoilt! The grounds of the hotel were stunning.

After lunch we visited Berwick upon Tweed, what a beautiful place, lots of quaint places to see even a few antique/curious shops, guitars and ukulele, which I pretended I could play, singing a Beatles song, what a laugh that was.

I was tempted to buy the guitar and take it on the bus for a sing song or two, however I don’t think the bus driver would have been too happy.

Off we go again on the last leg a visit to Dobbie’s Garden Centre in Newcastle. Beautiful gifts, flowers and yummy cakes.

Then onward bound for home to Newton Aycliffe

What else can we say?

Yes, there is a big thank you to the Town Council for a fabulous day, many thanks.
