Calling all young explorers – Summer Camp is coming to Wharton Park.

This August Durham County Council will be hosting a Summer Camp at Wharton Park, in Durham City.

The week-long camp will run from Monday, 12 August to Friday, 16 August, and each day will be packed with challenges, creativity, sports, exploring and friendship building.

Children will participate in activities such as orienteering and creating their own mini golf course.

Louise Porter, parks and countryside education officer at Durham County Council, said: “We’re conscious that some working parents struggle to find care for their children across the whole of the summer holidays, so it’s an ideal time for us to hold these sessions which enable young people to enhance their skills in the brilliant park surroundings.

“We’ll challenge them to be creative, explore the park and develop their confidence.”

Although the camp is a week-long, there is no need to commit to the five days – parents can chose what days will suit them.

Children must bring outdoor clothes and a packed lunch. The camp will run from 10am to 3pm and places are bookable in advance costing £12.50 per child, per day. An early drop off and late pick up arrangement is available for an extra £2.50 each.
