Last week saw the opening of a great new exhibition in The Greenfield Gallery. “Lost Stories and Broken Narratives” is a new collection of work by Textile artist, lecturer and published author Maggie Smith, featuring an array of printed, stitched and drawn works, including some 3-dimensional pieces.
Always engaged with surfaces, layers and hidden connections, Maggie uses drawing, print and stitch combined with a subtle colour palette and a love of process, working with fabric and paper. A collector and recycler of fabric and textile fragments with a history, she imbues her work with real or imagined stories exploring memories of childhood and interests in costume, theatre and literature.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to see a new collection of Maggie’s work in The Greenfield Gallery, and we are pleased to be able to host the show here at Greenfield Arts.
