Dear Sir,

As a disabled older person who finds shopping tricky, I have recently been delighted to discover that I can have the convenience of home delivery in Newton Aycliffe without using big-name supermarkets, and support local businesses in the process.

I’ve used Thames Fruit & Veg in the Thames Centre, along with Slaters Butchers and Aycliffe Dairies for home delivery of fruit, veg, meat, milk, orange juice and bread respectively.

All three have given me superb service.

However, it occurred to me that many other older and/or disabled people living locally might benefit from these services.

In every case I used Facebook to find out details/contact the businesses.

There must be many in Aycliffe and the surrounding area who don’t have Facebook, but could benefit from these home delivery services.

If you do use Facebook, why not investigate and pass on the contact details (phone numbers) from their pages, to someone you know who could benefit? Or help them to set up a regular order?

This might be an older family member or neighbour who has difficulty shopping, but wants to keep our local businesses alive.

Let’s “keep it local!”

Yours

“Local Resident”.
