Newtonian Ron Young, a former Sailor, has written and published his first book entitled “My Life as a Navy Diver”.
The first issue, printed by Newton Press in paperback, has sold out and Ron is ordering a reprint.
Ron was born in Croydon and brought up in Sunderland. He moved to Newton Aycliffe in 1973 where he worked for Eatons, STC and Sooner Foods. He married Sarah in 1961 and they have four sons.
He joined the Navy aged 17 and had rich experiences as a steward and then a diver over a career lasting nearly 18 years. After the Navy he continued as a diver working on Oil Rigs and his book tells a vivid story of his birthplace, family and many exploits.
If you wish to buy a copy they are available from Steven Young for £10 – 07974 733267.
