A council’s pest control team has again achieved a prestigious European standard for its work to rid County Durham of rats, wasps, fleas and more.

For the second year running, Durham County Council’s pest control team has been awarded the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA) certified status, meaning their work meets the highest industry standard.

The status means the team, which also tackles problems with mice, moles, squirrels and most flying and crawling insects, now meets ‘EN16636’, the European quality standard for pest management services.

Mark Farren, the council’s pest control manager, said: “I’m delighted that our team has been recognised by the CEPA again.

“Alongside our membership of the British Pest Control Association and the team’s 120 years’ collective experience in the pest control industry, this prestigious accreditation shows that the standard of our work meets the highest possible benchmarks.”

The council team offer a pest control service to householders and businesses across the county. Residents can book the services, for a one-off fee of £40 per infestation, online at www.durham.gov.uk/pestcontrol, via email to pestcontrol@durham.gov.uk or by calling 03000 26 1000.
