Newton Aycliffe Youth FC’s Chloe Ryan received her first international cap at a ceremony in South Wales on Saturday evening watched by her proud parents. Chloe, from Darlington and her England Schools Under 15 team mates were competing in the Bob Docherty Home International Tournament, where they faced Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland. After defeating the hosts’ in the opening game 2-0, the girls took on the favourites Scotland in a cracking encounter, and came away with a famous 2-0 win! The final at Dragon Park, Newport on Monday, saw the girls lift the trophy with a hard fought 1-0 win over Ireland. Jubilant scenes at the final whistle brought an end to the short international programme and gave the team a memorable and fantastic taste of representing their country. A very proud Chloe, County Durham’s only representative in the squad, will be back playing for the Youth Under 14 Girls’ at the weekend.
