Young people can find out about training and job opportunities at an information event next week.

DurhamWorks is hosting an employment and training roadshow in Stanley on Friday 15 November from 10am to 1pm.

Young people aged 16 to 24, who are not in education, employment or training, can drop in and speak to training providers and employers about job vacancies, apprenticeships and courses available in the area.

Organisations attending include: Derwentside College, New College Durham, Stanley Events Consortium, Raw Digital, Citizens Advice County Durham, Single Homeless Action Initiative in Durham (SHAID), Groundwork Skills, Groundwork, Delta North Consett, Optimum Skills, Cornforth Partnership, Foundation of Light, Fane first aid training, Thirteen Group, Zenith People, NRG Recruitment and the DurhamWorks’ vacancy team.

DurhamWorks is a partnership between Durham County Council and six organisations and supports 16 to 24-year-olds in County Durham, who are not in education, employment, or training.

Helen Radcliffe, external programme manager for DurhamWorks, said: “We and our partners will be ready and waiting to assist unemployed young people in North Durham to find jobs, training and education. If you are lacking confidence or unsure how to go about finding a job, we can help.”

Free tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits will be available throughout the event and attendees will be placed into a prize draw to win a £50 shopping voucher. Bus fares will also be reimbursed.
