With a quiet hoilday weekend football wise, and only a handful of games, the Under 10’s Eagles took part in the Easter Tournament at the Alun Armstrong Soccer Centre.
After winning all but one group game, which was drawn, Aycliffe Youth found themselves in the semi-finals against Bishop Kings. Always a tough fixture, the Eagles were well organised and made it to the final 3-0. Willington stood between Aycliffe and victory.
A great final was won 7-4 after a superb team performance. Special thanks go to the Management who helped in making this success possible. Well done boys!
The Under 10 Falcons entertained Escomb who nudged ahead 1-0. A Great fight back by the Falcons as Declan fired in to make it 1-1. Ricky and Simon made changes at half time as Leon drilled in for 2-1 Falcons! On a high, they brought in waves of attack! Ben fires in a third, some great crosses and shots from Declan, Ben, Leo and Leon results in a fourth.
A great game ended 4-1. Falcons were unstoppable as most of the play was in Escombs half. Declan was named man of the match.
The Under 8 Falcons match was brought forward to Saturday – home to Seaton Carew who were up for it from the start. An early goal saw the Falcons go behind but managed to get an equaliser just before half time with a well struck shot from Cole Gaskarth.
Second half saw Seaton come out wanting the game more and deserved to go ahead 2-1. Defeat looked likely but with minutes left Falcons won a penalty. Dylan Stewart blasted the ball into the back of the net.
Full time 2-2 Man of the match went to Dylan Stewart. The second game ended 2-0 to Seaton Carew. Man of the match went to Adam Shaw with some fantastic tackles in defence. With four games left in the league before the cup final, there is still plenty to play for.
