ACORN Residents Association junior members ‘Little Acorns’ braved the chilly temperatures in the Town Park on Easter Monday to exercise parents and grandparents, challenges of Chuck a Duck, Egg n’ Spoon races and rounders got the blood pumping while a series of Easter Egg hunts ensured children received an ample supply of chocolate.

On Tuesday Little Acorns hosted a Petting Zoo and face painting at the Leisure Centre which drew crowds of children and parents eager to see and get hands on with a selection of reptiles including a Boa Constrictor, Royal Python, and Corn snake. The skunk loved the attention and was a very friendly furry friend. Chicks also proved very popular with queues forming to hold them.

A rather large Squirrel was an instant attraction with many youngsters having photographs taken with him. Harry Potty was kept busy face painting until long after the event and wouldn’t leave until every child who wanted their faces painted Well done to all concerned for organising and for taking part.

ACORN and little Acorns will be holding their next meeting at the Leisure Centre on Thursday 11th April with Little Acorns starting their meeting at 5.30pm and the main group at 6pm.

ACORN are planning the next event on their calendar to be held at the Leisure Centre on 20th April at 7pm till 10pm – a Party / Disco with pie and peas to celebrate St George’s Day and the Birthday of our greatest writer William Shakespeare,

Yes we know these celebrations should be on the 23rd April but for reasons beyond our control the Saturday previous to the event is more convenient for most. Quiz with prizes and fancy dress should ensure a great night. This is a family party where parents can let their hair down knowing the kids are safely under their own supervision.

Tickets will be on sale from the Leisure Centre at £1 per person.
