Newton Aycliffe U9 Eagles hosted Polton Allstars in the second round of the challenge cup. The boys were up for it and dominated from the first to the last whistle.
An early goal settled us down and we found our stride. Krystian scored a first half hat-trick, all three goals were unstoppable finishes.
The boys were passing and moving well and were very pleasing on the eye. Evan added a goal from distance before half-time.
They were asked to keep their discipline in the second half and they did just that. A host of changes at half-time but that only increased the pressure on Polton as Jayden, James, Brandon, Dan, Daniel and Nathan all grabbed a goal.
All that was left was to keep a clean sheet, could we do it, Yes we could.
It took a top class save from Carter in the final minute to keep our clean sheet intact, as he managed to turn a great free kick around the post with a strong right hand. Credit to Polton who kept going the whole game.
MOM was given to the whole team as each player played their part in winning the way they did.
Second game we played 7 vs 9 and this made for a really competitive game.
Polton went 2 up before the boys worked out how to play against 9. Lucas scored when he swept home in a crowded penalty area before Riley grabbed a goal just before half-time to take us in level.
Second half the boys added a third when Dylan grabbed his first ever goal. Polton fought back and levelled it at 3-3 before Dan and Nathan added goals late on.
11 of the 12 boys getting on the score sheet and seeing how far these boys have come was a joy to watch.
MOM Daniel C for his hard work and capping his performance off with a goal.
