Durham’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has received national recognition for transparency.
PCC Ron Hogg was awarded with the Transparency Quality Mark from Bernard Rix, Chief Executive of the independent body CoPaCC earlier this month.
CoPaCC is an independent organisation which monitors policing governance nationally, to ensure PCCs are accountable to the public and that they publish information about their work.
Ron said: “I am delighted that we have been granted the Transparency Quality Mark. It is important to me that the public are kept informed of the work I do as PCC, and since taking up office I have tried to be as open and transparent as possible.
“As well as providing a range of information on my website, such as key decisions, events, expenses and freedom of information requests, I ensure my office is very active on social media. This provides more opportunities for people to find out other areas of my work, such as local projects, funding opportunities and services to support victims of crime.”
Bernard said: “Many congratulations to the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner’s team for their work to ensure they meet legal requirements on transparency. I am delighted to present this award to Durham and look forward to what I trust will be continued excellent work in this area.”
