Aycliffe’s budding superstar, Scarlet Dunn, produced a superb display of wet weather driving last weekend at Teesside. The weekend was a double header of Round 9 with 2 lots of points to be picked up from the 2 day race meeting. But first, the previous month’s Round 8 had to be finished; a race meeting that was abandoned half way through due to heavy rain. Scarlet had dominated September’s meeting with a Pole Position and 2 heat wins before the meeting was postponed and was looking to finish the job on Saturday and claim the overall win. She did this in style with a dominant display in heat 3 and in the final, claiming the overall winners trophy and maximum points possible in emphatic style.

Leading onto Round 9 of the championship which followed on through the day, she went on to continue her performance in the heats, taking another 3 wins, including a gap of over 2 seconds per lap in one heat. In the final, she was once again battling amongst the leaders and in the closest event of the year with the top 4 drivers being covered by less than one tenth of a second in lap times, she was knocked down to 4th place. But she was still happy with her performance through the day. On Sunday, Scarlet opted to race her more powerful IAME Bambino kart, and once again drove fantastically all day taking Pole position, 3 heat wins and victory in the final. Scarlet would like to congratulate her fellow competitors and friends Thomas Potter, who sealed the Teesside Bambino Comer championship at the weekend after a consistently good year and also to Edward Haynes who also drove well throughout the season and finished runner up.

Meanwhile, budding racer Harrison Dunn continued his progress in the sport by driving very consistently all weekend, finishing ahead of some competitors in the heats and producing his best lap times to date. He kept on smiling throughout the weekend and always makes his friends and family happy with the care he takes and effort he puts in. The pair are competing again at Rowrah, Cumbria this weekend. Scarlet & Harrison would like to thank again, sponsors Johnson Land Home Improvements and NRG Cycles, for the support and to her family for giving her the opportunity.
