New Drama classes are starting at the North East Centre for Autism (NEAS) as part of a Dance and Drama project that starts next month.  Funded by the newly formed Ashburn Trust in Darlington the project aims to support young people with autism and other disabilities to use dance and drama as a means to communicate, express ideas and emotions.
“We are really keen to make the most of the marvellous facilities the charity has here in Newton Aycliffe” explained Susan Tron, Trust Fundraiser from the Aycliffe Centre “This is a great example of how we can work with other groups and organisations to offer a service that will help more than just our young people with autism”
TIN Arts are a not for profit contemporary arts group that will be facilitating the Dance and Drama classes. These inclusive classes are a great way to help people with disabilities make new friends and develop some self-confidence. At the same time it gives parents of the young people the chance to meet and share ideas.
These sessions will be offered free to those aged under 18 years and who are eligible and sessions commence on Saturday 14th June. If you know someone who would enjoy joining these sessions please contact Susan at the charities head office in Chester-Le-Street on 0191 410 9974 or email susan.tron@ne-as.org.uk and check out www.ne-as.org.uk for more information.
