There’s a double measure of fun guaranteed this September when Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club’s hosts two stellar gigs from international piano man Jeff Barnhart.

First up, on Saturday 8th September, Jeff is joined by guitar and banjo virtuoso Thomas ‘Spats’ Langham and together they’ll captivate their audience with music from the Great American Songbook, and earlier.

And then for something completely different, the following Saturday 15th, Jeff presents his Great Silent Movie Show, a treasure trove of stories and films from the early days of cinematic comedy. Jeff provides the piano accompaniment as they did all those years ago, weaving his musical magic from scene to scene, while the likes of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin romp through car chases, stunts, suspense and romance on the silver screen.

Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club meets at St Augustine’s Parish Hall, Larchfield Street, Darlington, at 12.30pm. Entry is £10 on the door, and children 15 and under go free. St Augustine’s Parish Centre is a short walk from the bus stops on Tubwell Row and Darlington railway station.
