Newton Aycliffe Youth Football Club recently attended a County Durham FA Charter Standard Award Ceremony at the Emirates Cricket Ground in Chester Le Street. The club was delighted to be recognised as the No 1 Charter Standard Community Club in the County for 2014/2015. The County FA Secretary, John Topping, then surprised the club, to also announce to the packed audience, that we were also awarded the North of England Regional Community Club of the Year. This huge accolade is reward to everyone involved in the football club, coming only 5 years after achieving Community Status. The award recognised the quality and level of coaching achieved by all the volunteer coaches who give up many hours to achieve top coaching awards. As the start of a new season approaches the club will have 16 boys teams from 7-17yrs old and 4 girls teams from 9-14yrs old as well as 2 thriving development sections. The FA acknowledged the links we have with local primary schools offering introductory coaching sessions during the school day, with many children then joining the club to play in one of our many teams.
Berni Borsberry, Club Secretary, said “This is an award for everyone involved with Newton Aycliffe Youth FC and the local community. We pride ourselves that we are at the heart of football on the town and continue to offer affordable football for everyone and of all abilities.
The club continues to grow every season but the growth in teams is matched by the growth in coaches and volunteers who want to join the No.1 FA Charter Standard Club in the North of England. If you want more information visit our website www.naycafc.co.uk
