Winter is here, but it’s now that you should be thinking about next summer. There are people in Aycliffe who are already arranging an event near you for the annual Aycliffe Festival in July next year. We want you to organise one too.

The aim of the Festival is to involve local groups, businesses and voluntary organisations, to encourage people to organise an ‘event’ within the time-frame of the Festival. So if you belong to a scout or brownie group, a local voluntary organisation, community association or a business, get in touch with us!

Grants are available to cover the cost of the event and it is a great opportunity for you to raise funds for your organisation.

The closing date to apply for a grant is 31st March so there is still plenty of time to apply for a grant for an event for your own community.

Your event doesn’t have to cost a fortune or be the size of Glastonbury. It can be something really simple that would appeal to the people in your community, a board games day, an evening of comedy or singing, a nature walk etc. the possibilities are endless.

Even if you don’t need a grant, you can still benefit from our advertising and promotions campaign by letting us know about your event.

We will organise training and support to help you with any problems or queries you may have with the organisation and we will guide you through the process of application and event organisation if you need it.

Any event will be considered, large or small, indoor or outdoor but it must be held in the Festival period in Aycliffe from Friday 13th – Sunday 29th July. If you are thinking about organising an event or just want to talk it through with us, contact Marie Robinson on 01325 300700 or marie.robinson@great-aycliffe.gov.uk.
