Dears Sir,

Cllr. J.D. Clare’s

Welcome to Refugees

In last week’s Newton News I challenged Cllr. Clare’s stated reasons for attending the anti-Trump rally, and in particular, his carrying a banner saying “Refugees welcome here”. In the intervening week, two items have hit the National News:

1. The Terrorist (Refugee) who bombed the Manchester Arena had been saved by the Royal Navy, transported to Malta and was subsequently granted entry to Britain on Refugee status! If Britain had taken Donald Trump’s lead and temporarily banned entry of Muslim Refugees until we could gauge if they posed a threat, then the Manchester Arena bombing could possibly have been avoided!

2. A member of the Labour Party’s executive believes that Jews in the Labour Party are Trump supporters. I assume this means that Labour Party Jews should expect abuse and death threats since their views on Trump differ from good socialists like Cllr. Clare who went and demonstrated against Trump’s visit.

Cllr. Clare, your attendance at the Anti-Trump demonstration was therefore wrong on two counts. Further, it has left your behaviour open to two interpretations: either, you are naïve and don’t appreciate the REAL threat to British Society posed by suicidal ‘Refugee’ terrorists and the anti-Semitic and anti-American ‘Momentum’ faction of the Labour Party, or you are in fact a supporter of ‘Momentum’ and were publicly demonstrating your support for their anti-Trump (and anti-Semitic) stance.

Perhaps you believe that our ‘tolerant and welcoming community’ should put up with murder and mayhem as being a small price to pay for the self-gratification you clearly got from getting your picture published with your banner welcoming Refugees!

As I said in my previously published letter, our community is not tolerant! The local Labour Party has members / supporters who are in denial about the abuse and threats being meted out to Labour Party MPs who just happen to be Jewish. I was called ‘Scum’ by one such and have been called ‘Racist’ by others, for attempting to question why the Labour Party has turned on its Jewish community. My experience of, ‘so called’ Socialists in Great Aycliffe is one of division and hatred. I just wish Cllr. Clare would publicly declare where he stands on this, instead of demonstrating for ambiguous reasons.

Yours sincerely,

Alastair P G Welsh
