Dear Sir,
I believe that Freshwater, the Town Centre landlords, are short sighted and dictatorial with regard to the market in Aycliffe. Surely a good colourful market would encourage people to visit our town. It is rather dull at the moment but with new bright covers, it could become much more attractive not only to the people of Aycliffe but to a wider field.
However, the squashed position it occupies at present cannot be very inviting to the shopping public. It needs to be in the centre of the town where there is space to browse in comfort.  As for the piece of waste ground near Tesco, I think I am correct in saying that it has been vacant since the schools were demolished nearly 30 years ago. Perhaps someone from the Council can tell us what it is earmarked for and when it is likely to be occupied.
A Humble
