David and Jean Mothersdale received a visit from the Deputy Mayor Barbara Clare and her Husband John to mark their Golden Wedding Anniversary on 22nd December 2012.

The couple moved to Newton Aycliffe in 1963 and now live in their fourth home at Ashtree Close after deciding to downsize.

David served an apprenticeship with Darchem as a Metal Polisher, later becoming a Health & Safety, Personnel Officer a job he was offered from the experience he gained as a Union Representative. He worked for the company all his life until retiring after 47 years service.

Jean was trained as a Pharmacy Dispenser, moving to Paton & Baldwins and then Batchelors Off-licence in Newton Aycliffe. She took a Secretarial course and then became a Nursing Sister for 14 years at Aycliffe Hospital before it closed.

The couple have three daughters and three grandchildren. They love walking and have travelled the world, but their favourite holiday resort is in Corfu.

Family and friends will join in celebrating their 50 years marriage at a special party held in The Talbot, Bishopton.
