The death of Councillor Enid Paylor is a great sadness and loss to the family, and the people of Aycliffe.

For the last four and half years Enid has been the faithful and conscientious County Councillor working as my partner Councillor for the good of the West Ward and the whole of Aycliffe.

She was a hard working member of the South West Planning Committee and was especially welcome on the bus trips for site visits around the County, keeping members supplied with sweets.

Her passionate concern and care for Children and Young People was shown in her Vice Chairmanship of the Corporate Parenting Panel.

But her forte was her advocacy and care for the ordinary people of the Ward. Her long history in the area meant she had a wide network of friends which helped her keep in touch with the cares and concerns of those struggling with life.

She was always willing to listen to the many individuals who turned to her for help, advice and support. She battled against anti-social behaviour, drug dealers and anyone disrespecting the area.

I thank her for keeping me in touch with the people on the ground and many people are thankful for her quiet support and help she has given over the years.

She will be greatly missed as a champion for the local people and for her many other qualities.

Mike Dixon
