Time is running out for County Durham residents who wish to apply for a postal vote for the upcoming general election.
The deadline for completed applications for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday, 26 November.
Using a postal vote means voters do not have to worry about being able to attend a polling station if the weather is bad on election day or if they have other plans.
If your details have changed, for example, if you have recently moved house, and you wish to retain your postal vote, you must notify the council’s electoral services team by the same date.
Tuesday, 26 November is also the deadline for anyone not already included on the electoral register to request to be included so that they can vote in the general election on Thursday, 12 December.
Anyone who is included on the electoral register should have now received their poll card.
If you are registered to vote and have not received your poll card or you would to apply for a postal or proxy vote or be included on the electoral register, you should contact Durham County Council’s electoral services team on 03000 261212 or email electoralservices@durham.gov.uk as soon as possible.
