Darlington’s friendly last Saturday ended in a 3 – 0 defeat away to fellow league rivals, Whitby. A game which featured a number of triallists and a smattering of first team players. You can read very little into this result other than our management team will have a better idea of the Whitby squad than they have of ours.
It was great to see Graeme Armstrong get a twenty minute run out and receive applause from both sets of fans, Graeme was at Whitby before Darlington.
At time of writing, before I go on my holiday, we have also played Bishop and Spennymoor but as I’m away I have no idea of how we got on. Off the pitch talks are still ongoing between ourselves and the rugby club regarding the groundshare. I still remain confident, however, that a deal can be struck and work can begin in earnest.
This Saturday, the 15th August, sees our first game of the season. We are away to Buxton at The Silverlands, SK17 6QH. The group are very keen on getting as many Aycliffe based fans to games as possible and will be using a car share system this season until a more viable alternative is found.
If anyone is interested in car sharing, in any capacity, then please get in touch through email dfcaycliffefans@outlook.com. We do also have a contact number to share amongst group members so if anyone is interested but doesn’t use the internet then please attend our next meeting on Wednesday August 12 at 7pm in the Iron Horse and we can share numbers and information then.
See you all at Buxton!
