Darlington Football Club are providing an opportunity for youngsters to follow a career in sport.
The club set up an academy last September, and it has advanced in leaps and bounds, with some members not only becoming part of the first team squad but also learning for a Level 3 BTEC Sport qualification which will help them follow a career in sport, not just in football.
The club is holding a “Talent Day” during the half term holiday on Tuesday 19th February at Blackwell Meadows, beginning at 10am.
The day will involve a training session and a game, as well as chats with Academy director Tommy Wright and head coach Alan White, who will outline the benefits of joining the academy from September after the GCSE results come out.
The course includes coaching and mentoring by UEFA qualified coaches; monthly assessments and goal-setting; match analysis training; education by SCL; regular games in the National League Under 19 Youth Alliance; and regular friendlies against local teams.
Several youngsters have done well in Academy matches this season, and have caught the eye of scouts from football clubs higher up the ladder.
