Dear Sir,
I attend the Parade at St Clare’s Church each year, laying a wreath on behalf of the Durham Lieutenancy. The support of the community of Newton Aycliffe is always superb and it is a wonderful event, brilliantly organised and well attended.
My reason for writing is to highlight the involvement of all the various youth organisations, the children and the young people from organisations such as the Cadets, Brownies, Scouts and Guides, to name just a few, and the central part they play in the event.
Their attendance and involvement ensures the memory of all those who have died in service of their country stays alive, and will continue to be passed on through the generations.
The involvement of the children and young people in the Church Service, the laying of Wreaths and the Parade itself is so important for the community and the success of this very emotional and important day. The behaviour is always exemplary, and their parents should be very proud.
