Dear Sir,

I wish to raise this issue though the Newton News, please. Like everyone else, when out walking, I practice Social Distancing.

But, why do the majority of cyclists still insist on riding on pavements, where there is no cycle path, when the roads in Newton Aycliffe are nearly empty for most of the time?

I regularly walk down Stephenson Way to the town and find that the majority of cyclists insist on riding on the pavement, and passing me within inches – so much for the two-metre rule!

Come on cyclists get on the road, it is against the law anyway, and as there is hardly any traffic on our roads, and you are grown up enough to cycle on the roads, leave the footpaths to pedestrians.
