On Saturday 20th November, six members from CrossFit All Out Kids and Academy groups participated in The Castle Games Under 15 and Under 12 fitness events at Middlesbrough Sports Village. For three of these teens it was their first ever CrossFit competition, and they all tackled it brilliantly. Events included a 1km run for time, thrusters and weighted box step overs, toes to bar, 15kg dumbbell farmers carry and much more.

Finnley’s mum, Danielle, said, “Finnley has been a member of CrossFit All Out for just over 6 years and The Castle Games was his first official competition. Naturally he was nervous, but the support from the rest of the All Out athletes, particularly the other academy members and coaches, really helped push him on throughout the day. All of the kids were a pleasure to watch, encouraging and supporting one another all day.”
Lachlann said “I felt a bit nervous, with only doing CrossFit for about 18 months and most of those through lockdown, but l loved the day and I am looking forward to next comp!”
Owen’s mum, Claire, said, “Owen has been going to CrossFit for 7 years now, he has always enjoyed going to class and has never wanted to stop. He thinks very highly of all of his coaches and wants to be a ‘machine’ like them (his words).
“Taking part in a competition has given him a new focus and he looks to the future and wanting to compete as an adult.
The gym gives him the tools to want to do better, he has achieved so much but wants more. We are so proud of him. He has learned how to be a good team player and how to respect each and every person around him. We thank the coaches for everything they do.”
Coaches Terry, Courtnie and Vicki were extremely proud of all of the kids and academy members who competed at The Castle Games. All of them were calm and collected, supporting each other through every event and laughing along the way. They have all worked so hard to get to where they are today, showing huge commitment to their training; especially since lockdown and time away from the gym. We are excited to see them continue to progress week on week.
