Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring Store, had a hard fought 24 run victory away at Marton 2nds in the NYSD 2nd division. After being asked to bat first Aycliffe scored an excellent 219 all out after 49.1 overs thanks to some superb batting from Adam Randall (sponsored by DTS Joinery), who scored a seasonal best 74. There were also outstanding contributions from Chris Palmer and Sam Telford who both hit half centuries, scoring 52 and 53 runs respectively. In reply, the homeside battled hard but were eventually bowled out for 195 with only 9 balls of the innings remaining. Jack Slatcher was the pick of the Aycliffe bowlers taking 4 for 47 and he received good support from Michael Howe (3 for 51) and James Layfield-Carroll (2 for 42).

The second team had a tough match at home to Preston firsts, who sit third in the NYSD 4th division table and came away with a satisfying draw. The visitors were asked to bat first and scored 208 for 5 declared after 35 overs with George Slatcher (sponsored by Dean and Tina Greaves) taking 2 for 20 and Joe Haines 2 for 45. In reply all rounder Slatcher batted with discipline to hold the innings together scoring 44 from 109 balls faced. Dan Bowmer (21 runs) and Kyle Robinson (13 runs) also batted well as Aycliffe held on to finish at stumps on 127 for 8 after 45 overs.

The u15’s were well beaten at home to Sedgefield by 99 runs in the NYACC League. Sedgefield racked up 163 for 2 in their 20 overs with Thomas Dearden’s 2 for 30 the only bright spot for Aycliffe. In reply the homeside were restricted to 64 for 8 in their allotted overs with Dan Heaton the only player to reach double figures when he finished on 19 not out from 24 balls faced.

The u13’s had a terrific result winning by 47 runs in a run fest away at Wolviston in the NYACC League. Batting first Aycliffe racked up an impressive 150 for 2 in their 20 overs thanks to superb innings from Adam Shaw (retired on 30), Harrison Pearson (28 not out) and Dan Heaton (27 runs). In reply the homeside were restricted to 103 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs with Dan Heaton (3 wickets) and Will Dearden (2 wickets) the chief tormentors for Aycliffe.

The u12’s continued their fine form in the NYACC League with a 33 run victory away at Saltburn. Dan Heaton top scored with 18 runs and brothers Will Dearden (14 runs) and Thomas (13 runs) all batted well for Aycliffe and then all three players each took two wickets when the homeside batted.

Our u11’s had an exciting six run victory at home to Blackhall in the NYACC League. The home bowlers made life difficult for Blackhall with Will Dearden taking three wickets and James Evans and Joe Neild each taking two wickets. When Aycliffe batted, Alfie Spensley top scored with a career best 25 runs and there were other significant contributions from both Joe Neild (20 runs) and Will Dearden (10 runs).
