Newton Aycliffe’s 1st team, sponsored by Lift Right Fork Lift Training and weakened by player unavailability, made the short trip to reigning champions Coundon in the first division of the North East Durham League and were well beaten by 8 wickets.

The visitors decided to bat first and were dismissed for just 65 after 27.4 overs with only Chris Palmer (17 runs) and Adam Gittins (10 runs), managing to reach double figures. In reply Coundon coasted to victory after just 14 overs despite Aycliffe’s Sean Morgan taking 2 wickets for 15 runs from 6 overs.

A seriously weakened 2nd team included three dubutants when they hosted division 3 champions Whiteleas and unsurprisingly they were soundly beaten by 10 wickets in a very quick and one sided game. The homeside were bowled out for just 30 and Whiteleas raced to their victory target in just 6.3 overs.

The club’s under 15’s team containing a number of under 11’s and under 13’s players hosted Ushaw Moor in their final game of the season and came out on top by 19 runs. Aycliffe stand in captain Ben Nicholson batted superbly to score an unbeaten half century and with good support from 11 year old Dylan Tribley, who score a valuable 7 runs, the homeside finished their innings on a respectable 83 for 9 from their 20 overs.

In reply the visitors found Aycliffe opening bowler Tom Wickins in fine form as he removed their top 3 batsmen for just 9 runs. Ben Nicholson, Matt French and Sam Dobinson then followed up by each taking two wickets as Ushaw Moor were bowled out for 64 after 19.1 overs, helping the homeside to finish off their season in style.
