The 2016 cricket season gets underway this Saturday when Newton Aycliffe CC 1st team travel to Northallerton 1st team this Saturday (9 April) for a pre-season friendly. Start time at Northallerton is 12.30.
The season then gets underway in earnest for the first team on Saturday 16 April when we entertain Guisborough in the league at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club at 12.30. This is a tough opener for Newton Aycliffe as Guisborough were relegated from division 1 last season and will be looking to make an immediate return.
The second team do not get their league fixtures underway until 30 April but will travel to Northallerton 2nds on 16 April for a pre-season friendly.
Newton Aycliffe have been busy during the close season bringing in two new signings. Experienced Australian all rounder Mark Woodhead has joined the Club from Marsden while young opening batsman Ryan Dawson has re-joined the Club from Mainsforth after previously playing for Aycliffe under 11’s.
Newton Aycliffe CC have also had a major restructure of the junior academy during the winter, bringing all of the teams under the NYSD. The under 15’s and under 18’s have now moved to the NYSD, although the under 18 age group now become under 17. The Club have also entered an under 19 team in the ECB T20 national competition. The under 19’s will be managed by Adam Gittins who has also taken on the role of Junior Development Manager.
The Club are delighted that Frank’s the Flooring Store have agreed to continue as the main kit sponsor for the third consecutive year. Innovations will also continue as the main ball sponsor.
Newton Aycliffe have also signed sponsorship agreements with AC Door Systems and Elvet Estates which will see the players carry their logos on match day polo shirts. Jetchill and Fat Buddha are sponsoring players’ caps.
