Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club are running coaching sessions for children of either sex and all abilities every Wednesday evening between 5.30 and 7pm at Newton Aycliffe Sports Clubs. The fun sessions which are supervised by qualified and DBS checked coaches are being held in conjunction with the ‘Chance To Shine’ scheme which sees professional coaches going into primary schools to hold coaching sessions with the aim of increasing participation in cricket.
The Club runs teams from under 11 up to senior level and those attending the coaching sessions may have the opportunity to join the Club’s junior academy and represent Newton Aycliffe.
No specialist clothing or equipment is required to attend the sessions as the Club will initially provide bats and protective equipment, but children should turn up appropriately attired in T shirt, tracksuit bottoms/shorts and training shoes. It is also suggested that, as the children will be taking part in physical activity, they should bring a drink.
Anybody wishing to attend can either just turn up any Wednesday evening or contact Club Secretary Lee Weldon on 01325 312424 / 07759 754959 for more information.
Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club begin the new season in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League on Saturday 18 April at 12.30pm. The first team welcome Whitby to Newton Aycliffe Sports Club while the second team travel to Norton.
Spectators are always welcome to come along and support their local team in welcoming surroundings and can even treat themselves to a drink from the bar while watching the cricket from the outside seating area.
