Fire Service Fit Free Alarms for All
A fire in Walker Lane last week should be a warning to everyone to get a free smoke alarm fitted. A young couple with two small children were rescued when a fire occurred in the kitchen during the early hours of the morning.
They were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and their home was smoke-damaged.
Had they not woken up the result could have been more tragic and every house occupier in Newton Aycliffe is encouraged to have smoke alarms installed free by the Fire Service.
