The County Council Highways Department made a big mistake at the entrance to Tesco’s, taking the cost of this minor change to the road to what is bound to be tens of thousands of pounds.
All that was needed was to change the road markings, but we ended up with a grandiose scheme involving new pavements and fancy bollards contradicting the County Council’s need to save money!
The work, over many weeks brought chaos to the area as busy traffic built up in and out of Tescos. When it was completed motorists found the turn too sharp and were mounting the kerb causing danger to pedestrians.
The Council Officer said it complied with regulations, but following an outcry from Tesco and their customers they reviewed the situation and came back this week to amend the scheme, causing further disruption.
