Dear Sir,

It appears residents are having to look after themselves these days as Councillors look the other way.

Important issues of the day are being tackled by volunteers in the community who run residents groups. They are having to fight decisions being made by the authorities while Councillors stand idly by!

County Councillors are being paid to look after our interests yet they are not speaking out for their wards or protesting on behalf of their constituents. It is Residents Associations who are doing their job!

The two current issues bothering folk is the town centre police station and wheelie bin collections. It transpires both have been solved by residents associations, running surveys and holding meetings to express public opinion – something councillors should be doing from the Council Chambers.

It is time our local Councillors got a grip on local issues and took a lead in representing the people who elected them at Council meetings.
