Dear Sir,
Cllr Gray’s rambling letter is full of inaccuracies and does not identify what he has done for Aycliffe during his 24 years’ service as a Councillor and School Governor.
However, as the matters he refers to took place before Councillor Kate Hopper and myself were elected, it would have been more appropriate whilst he was still a Durham County Councillor himself to have raised these concerns with the previous representative Dorothy Bowman, including Livin who own Silverdale house.
Of more concern is that Cllr Gray is no longer an ‘Independent’ thinker and now speaks for a Party that would inflict damage on Aycliffe’s local economy if elected.
He stated that UKIP is the ‘perfect party’ and is ‘best placed to deliver positive results’. Will he now explain to Great Aycliffe residents how UKIP’s policy of withdrawing from the EU would be positive for Hitachi‘s European hub and our local businesses?
At the 2013 elections he was elected to the Town Council as an ‘Independent’ Councillor, so he may now want to consider doing the honorable thing and resign, as others have, then rebrand himself as a UKIP supporter and stand under their banner.
