A new one-stop shop for council services has opened in Durham. The city’s Customer Access Point moved from Claypath to a new refurbished facility next to Clayport Library this week.

Visitors to the new centre can access information and advice on the following services:

• Housing and Council Tax Benefits

• Bus Passes

• Highways

• Council Tax

• Waste and Recycling

• Planning and Building Control

• Housing Solutions

• Durham City Homes

Clayport Library has also been refurbished.

Terry Collins, Durham County Council’s director of neighbourhood services, said: “This major project has seen not only the relocation of the Customer Access Point to an improved facility but also an extensive refurbishment of all three floors of Clayport library, bringing council services in the city together under one roof in a convenient and accessible location.”

The new customer access point will be officially opened by Cllr Linda Marshall, Chairman of Durham County Council, at 1pm on Tuesday, 31 July, when she will unveil a commemorative plaque.
