Fun in the Parks has been a big hit with local families this summer.  Organised and provided by Great Aycliffe Town Council, this popular free event visits eight of the Town Council’s Parks on Wednesday and Friday during four weeks of the schools’ summer holiday.
The fun started at the Town Park, with all events aimed at children between 3 and 8 years, offering entertainment  including Punch and Judy shows, magician, face painting, small fairground rides, balloon modelling, bouncy castles and games.
Some of the events have a theme –  the Oakleaf event was very well attended, with children fascinated by the unusual animals brought along by Krafty Kritters, while the Mad Hatters Tea Party at Moore Lane included a fancy dress competition, with children enjoying dressing up in imaginative costumes.  Fine weather helped a number of Teddy Bears to enjoy a picnic (with their owners) at Woodham Park this week.
Three more events are planned, St Oswald’s Park on Friday 19 August (with a circus theme), followed by Aycliffe Village Park and drawing to a close on 26 See the schedule on page ?  or visit the Town Council’s website at www.great-aycliffe.gov.uk
