The SHINE, Children’s Community Choir held two sell-out shows of their musical nativity “LIGHTS, CAMEL, ACTION”  at Christmas-time. They thrilled and delighted the packed audience with a mixture of song, dance and drama which was very funny at times! The nativity was based around the hit TV show Strictly Come Dancing and the whole cast enjoyed learning the different routines and songs and performing in the Bethlehem Stable. Some brilliant acting and singing by these very young children and older youth with funky camels, ballet angels, Morris dancing, shepherds and disco stars. The judges and hosts kept it all moving and with a whole cast hand jiving to finish the show, everyone left with huge smiles on their faces. Massive thanks to all who came and watched and all who came and helped – a super team effort. SHINE then performed at the Mayor’s Carols and Readings Service also with a great turn-out after their busy weekend and sang all about the angels bringing good news. SHINE CHOIR brings good news also in all the singing and performing they take part in, and are great ambassadors of the Gospel message. Shine Choir meets again on Monday 30th January with an After- Show Party  5-6pm at St. Clare’s and will then begin rehearsals for an extra special event to be held in Tesco in March. They also have plans to record some of their own songs on a CD this year. Shine is a Community Choir open to all children from 5 years upwards, meeting every Monday evening 5-6pm. There is no charge to join – just a love of singing and performing required. This is  a great way to meet new friends. Contact is Helen McCormick – Youth/ChildrenSt.Clares.
