Barbara Robertson was born and raised in London. She became a primary school teacher when she left school and taught in London, Derbyshire and Hampshire before moving to Canada where her teaching career continued in Montreal, Quebec. Her three children were born here. She also taught in Ottawa and the far north of Quebec.

When her children were young she was actively involved in organising and teaching in Nursery Schools. She returned to University and also taught emotionally disturbed adolescents.

On her return to England she taught in London before moving to Chilton. She is now fulfilling a long held ambition to write children’s fiction. Barbara’s first book for younger children is available from Amazon and to order from Waterstones, priced at £2.50. It is a story about two families of ducks who need to move when their village pond becomes polluted. A sequel to this story has been written and will hopefully be available at the end of the year.

Her move to the north east has been a source of inspiration. A Summer of Trees is currently being published and was the result of her appreciation of the wonderful variety of trees she viewed on her journeys from Darlington to Durham on the number 7 bus.

Another book, Viking Ventures, a story of time travel, is scheduled for publication in the summer and it was the history of the north east that prompted this book. It is planned to be launched at a London Book Fair this summer.

Local residents of Chilton have been supportive and more than forty books have been sold locally and Barbara is very appreciative of their encouragement.
