We are delighted to announce that the first phase of the Skate Park at Heighington Sports Field is now installed and being enjoyed by boys and girls of all ages. Three boys: Lewys Lawrence-Hall, Daniel Greaves and Gabriel Stevenson pitched the idea to the Parish Council two years ago.
Since then, £18,000 has been raised to install the tarmac and the first two ramps from a combination of fundraising events, very generous donations from the residents of Heighington Parish and grants from the DOSH fund and ‘Awards for All’ Lottery Fund.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the project so far. We are continuing to fundraise and apply for grants for three more pieces of equipment to complete the skate park.
On a serious note, please be aware that youngsters should be supervised while using the equipment in case of an accident. They should also wear helmets to prevent the serious head injuries that can occur from this activity.
Please be aware that when it has been raining, extra care should be taken when using the ramps.
