April was bowel cancer awareness month and Healthwatch County Durham’s volunteers have been out and about asking people what they know and think about the screening test.

They have done drop ins in Stanley, Sacriston and Bearpark with more still to come. Volunteers from The Medical Group Patient Reference Groups are promoting the survey in their surgeries and Age UK, County Durham Carers Support, Durham Community Action and other organisations have all encouraged their service users and contacts to take part.

We have also challenged our Board members to engage with 10 people each by the next meeting! So far over 200 people have completed the survey. If you haven’t yet had time, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Please also share the link with anyone you know over 60 living in County Durham and watch this space for our findings in the summer.
