NEVILLE WARD – 6th DECEMBER
Jed Hillary – Labour Candidate

Originally from Shildon, I have called Newton Aycliffe my home since the early 80s, regularly visiting my sister and brother-in-law whilst on leave from the Army. After a 17-year military career, I lived and worked in Somerset, but returned to the North East in 2004 and naturally chose to settle in Newton Aycliffe.

I have been a Neighbourhood Warden in the West Ward of the town, working with the Police and other agencies in tackling anti-social behaviour and allaying the fear of crime. Other tasks included organising and assisting urban regeneration programmes in Newton Aycliffe and other parts of the then Sedgefield Borough.

I am currently employed by the NHS based at Darlington Memorial Hospital where I am also a member of the Trust’s Council of Governors. During the past four years I have been an active member of the Town Council’s customer panel. I am proud to be a Newtonian and strongly believe that when it comes to local politics, the needs of the people of Newton Aycliffe should come first and foremost.

With your vote, I will provide a neighbourhood voice and ensure that the views of Neville residents are heard at Great Aycliffe Town Council (GATC) meetings. I will also strive to provide prompt and detailed responses to individual concerns.

As a resident, I strongly support measures that enable GATC to continue delivering high-quality, cost-effective and efficient services to the area, while at the same time enhancing the town and community we live in.

Labour demands high standards of integrity, ability and attendance from its Councillors.  I am ready to take up that challenge, putting ‘Aycliffe first’.
