Athletes from Aycliffe Running Club were busy last week in various parts of the country.

In the Gisborough Moors fell Race over 12.5 miles, Dez Fielden made much of being the only competitor from the club, finishing in a brilliant 7th  position in a field of 148, in 93m:15s.

On the same day the club had three runners in the London Marathon. Alexander Lineton was 1st home for the club in 3h:50m. Not so far behind was Liam Montgomery 3h:58m and Michael O’Sullivan 4:00hrs.

The previous Wednesday 16 runners from the club took part in the Redcar Coastal 5k.

In very windy conditions Lee Wren led the way home for the club, finishing in a personal best time of 18m:18s, and also received a prize for being in the 1st 25. He was followed closely by Richard Campbell 24th in19:04 and Tom Porter 36th in 20:25. Peter Smith was next, 48th in 21:06.

Naomi Kellett was 1st home for the ladies, 65th in22:20, followed by Trevor Needham, 75th in 23:05 and Kelly Smith, slowly getting back to form after a long layoff through injury, 84th in23:33.

Newcomers Jason Dixon and wife Michelle are quickly establishing themselves in the club racing scene and Jason produced another good performance finishing 91st in 24:38, followed by Trish Kay 92nd in24:39, Penny Johnson
