Rose Lodge Care Home brought a taste of Scotland to Newton Aycliffe as the care home opened its doors for a Burns Night coffee morning for residents, families and guests from the local community.
Catrina Dulston of the Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band visited the home in traditional Highland dress to play bagpipes and one kind guest performed the traditional ‘Rabbie’ Burns poem ‘Address to a Haggis’ to open proceedings before attendees enjoyed sampling traditional haggis, neeps and tatties and a selection of Scottish-themed treats and refreshments.
Every year the life and work of poet Robert Burn is celebrated around the globe on the Bards birthday, January 25th.
Nicola Wheatley, Home Manager at Rose Lodge, said: “We’ve had a brilliant time at our Burns Night coffee morning. This is now our third year hosting the event and it seems to get more popular each year. It was lovely to see residents, families and friends from the local area enjoying themselves together and getting into the spirit of the occasion.”
Rose Lodge Care Home, operated by care home provider Countrywide Care Homes, is an award winning care home which provides residential care and dementia care for 54 residents.
