Carol and Neil Peacock were delighted to be awarded a bronze medal at the British Cheese Awards for their Mordon Blue Cheese – a wonderful recognition of their hard work and dedication considering they only started producing cheese last year.

Mordon Blue was the first cheese they made and  following requests a further four cheeses are now being produced: Durham Camembert, Farmhouse White, Mordon Mediterranean and Soft Flavoured Cream cheese.

This is very much a family business nearby at Mordon Village – Neil and son Joe milk the cows and Carol makes the cheese. Neil’s parents bought the farm 54 years ago and they expanded the dairy farm when Neil left school and now the cheese business is being developed as their son Joe has left school and also wants to farm. Daughter Georgia aged 13 is still at school  and helps at weekends.

Their handmade artisan cheese is made using only their own farm assured milk.  The fresh morning’s milk is piped no further than 20 feet from the milking parlour into the cheese vat in the purpose built cheese dairy, where cheese making begins. All of the cheeses are fully traceable with handling and packing also done on the farm. The only food miles incurred are at the delivery stage.

This region is so fortunate in having very talented chefs who are passionate advocates of local, quality produce and Carol and Neil are very appreciative of  their support and demand for Parlourmade Cheese, alongside local farm shops, delis, hotels and restaurants.

Neil and Carol have just returned from the British Cheese Festival held at Cardiff Castle and are already planning to develop their range of cheese so watch this space.
