Woodham Academy held their annual Christmas Concert last week and demonstrated the rich variety of young talent Newton Aycliffe has in its young people.
Singing, dancing, acrobatics, pianists, violinist, brass instruments a rock band and percussionists were all part of a packed programme and were presented with confidence and enthusiasm to an appreciative audience.
Dance Teacher Miss Minervini can be complimented for her leadership in some magnificent routines and for encouraging students Kay Clarey, Caitlin Roberts and others in the choreograpy of other items in the programme.
Zoe Efthymiadou was described by the compere as a prodigious talent able to play a number of musical instruments and she delighted the audience with a largo played on the violin. Josh Blackburn and Ben Wales played a Scherzo piano duet which was brilliantly performed and well received.
One of the highlights was Emma Sandford singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” while Victoria Archer and Caitlin Roberts danced gracefully on stage.
Woodham Sound and the Advanced Vocal Group sang magnificently showing hours of rehearsals to reach this level of perfection.
The Brass Band conducted by Stephen Boyd gave a comedy version of the “Twelve Days of Christmas” narrated by Emma Sandford and was very amusing.
The whole evening was most enjoyable and everyone left the event feeling very proud of our young people.
