Students from Greenfield Community College were treated to a festival of brass earlier this month.  Pupils from both the Aycliffe Site and Sunnydale Campus had the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic live performance from the talented ‘Funky Style Brass’ and ‘Mr Wilson’s Second Liners’ respectively. Students from Year 7 and 8 at Greenfield were thrilled with the occasion and showed their appreciation by forming a fun conga and creating Mexican waves to the fabulous sounds of the talented bands. “It was great to see the students enjoying the music and joining in” said Sophie Lewis, Arts and Community Centre Coordinator at Greenfield Arts “it was really special to host the event, bringing not only fun and enjoyment to the end of term but also a brilliant cultural and educational experience.” The event formed part of the popular Durham Brass Festival which has been celebrating their tenth birthday in style throughout the region bringing an array of styles and themes to its more traditional roots.  Funded by Durham County Council and delivered by ‘The Forge’ the event has gone from strength to strength and Greenfield Arts have once again been delighted to host the event and enjoy the students’ lively reaction!
