Young people looking to do something different during the holidays can now book a place at Gala Theatre’s summer school.

The workshops are suitable for young people aged between eight and 15 and offer them the chance to take over the theatre from Monday 6 to Friday 10 August 2018.

Those attending will get to choose a text, come up with their own ideas and develop the characters with the help of the theatre’s professional drama teachers, directors and technicians before performing the show in front of an audience.

The fast-paced and fun sessions are great not just for building acting skills but will also increase children’s confidence and help them make new friends.

No previous experience is required for the summer school, which costs £120 per child, or £100 per child for a sibling discount.

Kate Sorahan, Gala’s theatre education officer, said: “These sessions are perfect for those looking for something fun to do this summer and we would encourage anyone with enthusiasm and a positive spirit to think about joining up.

“Previous groups have relished the opportunity to work closely with our theatre staff and the chance to perform to an audience on the big stage and we are confident this year will be another big success.”
