Our local PCSO Beat Bobbies volunteered to do some gardening at The Hub Community Centre on Bluebell Close last Friday. After speaking with Aristea Stathopoulos the Support Co-ordinator she said tenants had expressed wishes to spruce up the area and improve the communal gardens. Neighbourhood Police Team PCSO’s 7430 Gavin Laycock, 7497 Chris Noble, 7875 Michael Crawford, 7956 Daniela Jones, 7858 Steven Gill and 2696 Mike Welch all pitched in to help. Other volunteers put up hanging baskets to make the area look more colourful for residents with the police assisting with litter picking, potting and laying down new wood chippings amongst other things. The day was a huge success and couldn’t have been done without the help of all the staff at the Hub, the NPT, the volunteers at the Hub and plant and flowers donated by Glendale and Shildon Alive.
