The Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership is offering a free bat survey training course for volunteers on Wednesday 8 April at 7.30pm in Barnard Castle. The course, led by Tricia Snaith from Durham Bat Group, will cover an introduction to the bats of County Durham, details about the methodology used to survey bats, instructions on how to use bat detectors and some practical experience of surveying bats!
The course will consist of an indoor introduction and then a practical outdoor session. The hope is that volunteers will use the skills gained on this course to help the Heart of Teesdale survey the bats around the Teesdale area throughout this summer. However this course is open to everyone and there is no obligation to volunteer afterwards.
This event is free of charge. Please ensure you bring waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear. No previous experience is required and equipment is provided.
